The government is seeking former Ako Bicol Party-list Rep. Elizaldy Co’s repatriation, highlighting its desire to bring him to justice, said House Speaker Faustino "Bojie" Dy III.
According to a Friday report by RH 12 Milky Rigonan, this was Dy’s response to the news that Co had been arrested in Prague, Czech Republic, as announced by President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. on Thursday evening.
Dy said that Co’s arrest shows that the government refuses to stop pursuing those who seek to evade accountability.
Marcos wants to have Co return to the country at the earliest possible instance to have him explain the allegations he has made in connection with anomalous flood control projects, Dy said.
The speaker added that while Filipinos want those responsible for the project anomalies to be held accountable, he assured that the House remains focused on solving the country’s oil crisis.
While the government awaits Co’s return, the House continues its work in helping Filipinos through the crisis brought on by the war in the Middle East, he said.
Co was apprehended by Czech authorities after entering the country without proper documentation, said the President on Thursday.
