The Philippine Health Insurance Corp. (PhilHealth) on Wednesday said that P60 billion has been officially returned to the state insurer from the National Treasury following the directive of President Ferdinand Marcos Jr., with the funds expected to strengthen healthcare services and expand benefits for Filipinos.
In a statement, PhilHealth said the return of the funds reflects the president’s confidence in the agency’s ability to fulfill its mandate of providing healthcare support to the public.
The state insurer thanked Marcos for directing that the amount be used to improve healthcare services and ensure that assistance reaches more Filipinos nationwide. PhilHealth also acknowledged the role of the Department of Finance (DOF) in facilitating the immediate remittance of the funds.
PhilHealth said the money will be used to enhance member benefits, strengthen internal systems, and speed up processes to deliver faster, fairer, and more reliable healthcare services.
The agency reiterated its commitment to safeguarding public trust and ensuring that every peso of the returned funds will be allocated toward improving health services and operational efficiency.
