

The Palace on Wednesday ordered the suspension of work on September 28 for all national government agencies and instrumentalities in observance of National Family Week and “Kainang Pamilya Mahalaga” Day.
The work suspension includes government-owned or -controlled corporations and state universities and colleges, and begins at 1:00 p.m. on the said date, according to Memorandum Circular No. 136.
“However, those agencies whose functions involve the delivery of basic and health services, preparedness/response to disasters and calamities, and/or the performance of other vital services shall continue their operations and render the necessary services,” the memorandum states.
Meanwhile, government workers under the Executive branch are encouraged to support Family Week programs and activities organized by the National Committee on the Filipino Family.
The Palace also encourages other branches of government, independent commissions or bodies, and the private sector to follow suit in suspending work, to allow all Filipino families to celebrate.
The memorandum was issued in accordance with Proclamation No. 60 (s. 1992) that declared the last week of September of every year as Family Week, as well as Proclamation No. 326 (s. 2012) that declared the fourth Monday of September every year as “Kainang Pamilya Mahalaga” Day.
