The government is in stable condition amid the issues on corruption related to the flood control project anomalies, Executive Secretary Lucas Bersamin said.
“Very very stable. Because alam mo ‘yan internal dynamics lang ‘yan, normal lang sa atin ‘yan,” Bersamin said in an ambush interview after the Senate Committee on Finance budget hearing on Wednesday, September 10.
“There were eras or periods in our history that there were more supposedly perceived to be stabilizing..I don’t see any threats,” he added.

Bersamin stated that he is entrusting the investigation to the two chambers of the House, amid talks of creating an independent commission.
Despite his earlier statement, Bersamin said that he is also bothered by the information being revealed concerning the anomalies surrounding the Department of Public Works and Highways’ (DPWH) flood control projects.
On Tuesday, Senate President Pro Tempore Panfilo “Ping” Lacson linked former DPWH Secretary Manuel Bonoan to the anomalous flood control projects, citing it as a “growing family business.”
Former DPWH Bulacan assistant district engineer Brice Hernandez also mentioned during the House Infra Committee hearing that Senators Jinggoy Estrada and Joel Villanueva are involved in the said anomalies, including other government officials.
Meanwhile, RH Raymund Dadpaas reported that the Senate Committee on Finance approved the ₱27.3 billion budget for the Office of the President (OP) in 2026. This also includes the expenses for hosting the ASEAN Summit in 2026.
