The Gilas Pilipinas Men’s 3x3 team saw its 2026 FIBA 3x3 Asia Cup run end after a narrow 18-15 quarterfinal defeat to South Korea.
Competing together for the first time as a unit, the Philippine squad showed promise, posting its best result since finishing fourth in the 2022 edition.
Jerrick Ahanmisi led the team offensively with eight points, while Chris Koon and Sean Alter added three each, and Ralph Cu contributed one. Despite late efforts to narrow the gap, South Korea’s structured defense held firm in the final minutes.
South Korea’s Donggeun Lee paced his team with eight points and six rebounds. The U23 Korean squad executed with precision, controlling the tempo at key moments to secure its first semifinal appearance since 2022.
Meanwhile, the Gilas Pilipinas Women’s 3x3 team claimed the silver medal after falling to Australia, 18-9, in the final. Their historic podium finish highlights the growing strength of the Philippines’ 3x3 program on the continental stage.
Both men’s and women’s teams advanced through the qualifying rounds to reach the main draw, with the women achieving a milestone while the men fell just short of replicating their previous deep tournament run.
