GCash issued an advisory on Thursday announcing the removal of access to in-app gaming through mobile payment apps and websites, in full compliance with a directive from the Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas (BSP).
This follows the announcement by BSP Deputy Governor Mamerto Tangonan, who stated that all e-wallet operators must disconnect from online gambling platforms within 48 hours.
In line with BSP Memorandum no. M-2025-029, which outlines regulations for gaming, GCash will implement the necessary changes, including suspending access to gaming via GLife starting Saturday, August 16, at 8 p.m.
As part of this change, users will only be able to withdraw funds from their gaming accounts back to their GCash wallet through GLife until the deadline of 8 p.m. on August 16.
Users with remaining funds will only be able to access them directly through the gaming merchant’s website.
The mobile wallet service reassured its users that it is dedicated to strengthening safeguards for online gaming and will continue working with regulators and industry partners to protect the financial well-being of Filipinos.
