Motorists may face another round of fuel price hikes next week, according to the Department of Energy (DOE).

DOE Assistant Director Rodela Romero of the Oil Industry Management Bureau said gasoline prices could increase by around P1.10 per liter. Diesel prices may go up by about P0.50 per liter, while kerosene could rise by approximately P0.90 per liter.

Romero cited several factors behind the projected adjustments, including fresh sanctions imposed by the United States on 12 additional tankers transporting Iranian crude oil. She also pointed to the ongoing large-scale military buildup in the Middle East, which has contributed to volatility in global oil prices.

However, Romero noted that the figures are still subject to change depending on the final day of trading on Friday. Adjustments may also vary once oil companies factor in operational costs and other applicable premiums.

If the increases push through, it would mark the eighth consecutive week of price hikes for gasoline and the ninth straight week for both diesel and kerosene.
