The Metro Rail Transit 3 and Light Rail Transit (LRT) 1 and 2 lines will provide free rides on June 12, as the country marks the 128th anniversary of Independence Day.

“Bilang paggunita sa ika-128 Anibersaryo ng Araw ng Kalayaan, may handog na libreng sakay ang Light Rail Transit Authority (LRTA) para sa lahat ng pasahero ng LRT-2 sa Hunyo 12, 2026,” the Light Rail Manila Corporation (LRMC) said in a statement.

“Ang inisyatibong ito ay bahagi ng pakikiisa ng LRTA sa pagdiriwang ng kalayaan ng ating bansa at bilang pasasalamat sa patuloy na pagtangkilik at suporta ng mga mananakay sa serbisyo ng LRT-2,” it added.

The free ride period for Light Rail Transit Line 2 will run from 7:00 a.m. to 9:00 a.m. and from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.

“During the free ride period, passengers with beepTM cards simply need to tap their cards at the Automated Fare Collection System (AFCS) gates as usual, and no fare will be deducted from their load. Ticket Vending Machines will only process Stored Value Card initial purchases and top-up transactions,” the company said.

“Passengers who will opt to use Single Journey Tickets will be requested to proceed to the teller booths to claim free tickets,” it added.

The company said LRT-1 will follow its holiday operating schedule.

"The first trains are scheduled to depart from both Dr. Santos and Fernando Poe Jr. Station at 5:00 AM. For the last trips of the day, the final train will leave Dr. Santos Station at 9:30 PM, while the final train from Fernando Poe Jr. Station will depart at 9:45 PM," the company noted.
