Fredderick Vida has officially took his oath as the new acting secretary of the Department of Justice (DOJ).

President Ferdinand "Bongbong" Marcos Jr. led the swearing-in ceremony at Malacañang on Monday, November 17.

Vida’s initially designated as officer-in-charge and now formally follows the designation of former Justice Secretary Jesus Crispin “Boying” Remulla as the new Ombudsman.

On November 13, 2025, the DOJ formally confirmed Vida’s appointment to the Cabinet post.

Before joining the DOJ in 2023, Vida held several key leadership positions in Cavite, such as he was vice mayor in Cavite in 2007, then became mayor from 2013 to 2022.

The acting DOJ secretary earned his political science degree from the University of the Philippines and his law degree from the Ateneo Law School.

He passed the Bar examinations in 1996.
