President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. has designated Justice Undersecretary Fredderick Vida as the Officer-in-Charge (OIC) of the Department of Justice (DOJ) following the appointment of Justice Secretary Jesus Crispin “Boying” Remulla as the new Ombudsman.
The appointment was confirmed by Remulla after he met with the President at Malacañang.
"Napagkasunduan na kanina nung ako'y nasa Malacañang, nakausap ko na ang presidente under secretary Vida will step in as officer-in-charge or acting secretary," Remulla said.
Vida’s designation takes effect after President Marcos formally accepted Remulla’s new role, succeeding Samuel Martires, whose seven-year term concluded in July.
Remulla was chosen as the new Ombudsman by President Marcos from the shortlist submitted by the Judicial and Bar Council (JBC).
As OIC, Vida will oversee the DOJ’s day-to-day operations until a permanent secretary is appointed, ensuring continuity in the department’s programs and initiatives.
