Four people were killed in a tragic road crash along Manila East Road in Barangay San Isidro, Angono, Rizal on Sunday afternoon, March 15.
CCTV footage showed vehicles passing along the highway at around 1 p.m. when a speeding red car suddenly struck a motorcycle carrying a couple. The impact threw both the rider and the back rider off the motorcycle.
The car continued moving forward and crashed into a nearby bakery.
In another CCTV clip, an approaching jeepney was seen swerving to avoid the speeding vehicle, while several motorcycles behind it stopped abruptly. Three bystanders were pinned to the bumper of the car, while two others were thrown toward the bakery where the motorcycle also ended up.
According to Angono Police, the driver allegedly lost control of the vehicle after its brakes reportedly failed, causing it to hit the motorcycle and several people who were either standing by or buying at the bakery.
The force of the crash severely damaged the front bumper and hood of the car and shattered its windshield.
Police arrested the 66-year-old female driver of the car involved in the crash. She is facing charges of reckless imprudence resulting in multiple homicide and serious physical injuries.
