Four people were injured and rushed to the hospital after a man allegedly stabbed them during a wake in Purok 3, Barangay Mulig, Toril District, Davao City in the early hours of May 17, 2026.

According to a report by Jhun Suter, police identified the suspect as alias “Ayan,” a 38-year-old unemployed resident of Purok 4, Barangay Mulig, who was immediately arrested following the incident.

The victims were identified only through their aliases “Ilan,” “Marshall,” “Manolito,” and “Victorio,” all of legal age and residents of different areas in Davao City.

Based on the investigation conducted by Police Station No. 8, a witness identified as alias “Warren” told authorities that a confrontation erupted after victim alias “Manolito” allegedly asked the suspect to go home to prevent trouble during the wake.

Minutes later, the suspect allegedly attacked “Manolito” with a knife. The three other victims who attempted to intervene were also stabbed during the commotion.

The injured victims were rushed to the Southern Philippines Medical Center for immediate medical treatment.

Responding police officers, with the assistance of local residents, were able to subdue and arrest the suspect shortly after the incident.
