Four people were confirmed dead after a fire hit a townhouse along Road 18 in Barangay Bahay Toro, Quezon City, on Tuesday, September 15.
According to a report by RH Edwin Duque, authorities said the fatalities included two senior citizens, aged 61 and 63, and two other companions, aged 41 and 51.
An e-bike battery being charged reportedly exploded near the entrance of the house. The fire quickly spread and reached the fourth floor, preventing the victims from escaping the burning structure.
A 31-year-old resident managed to escape the fire and was immediately brought to a hospital for medical treatment, according to the report.
Volunteers reported that the fire reached the first alarm at 4:45 p.m. and was declared out at around 5:11 p.m.
Authorities are continuing to investigate the incident.
