A man claiming to be a former driver of ex-House Speaker Lord Allan Velasco said Thursday he delivered 15 suitcases of cash to Vice President Sara Duterte in Davao City in 2021 and 2022.
Identified only as “Chris,” the man appeared before the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) and said the deliveries were made on Velasco’s orders.
According to a report by RH Jecelle Ricafort, Chris said their head driver told them the suitcases contained a “small gift” for Duterte. He could not specify the amount because he did not see the money inside.
He submitted an affidavit to the NBI, along with screenshots of his social media posts documenting his trips.
NBI Director Atty. Melvin Matibag told DZRH News he had not yet seen Chris’ affidavit.
Chris also said he worked with Rodulfo Gracioso Jr. but was not involved in the same deliveries and was not close to him.
In his affidavit, Gracioso alleged delivering more than ₱2 billion in cash to Duterte, ₱1 billion to former President Rodrigo Duterte and ₱100 million to Davao City Rep. Paolo Duterte.
The allegations have not been independently verified. The NBI is open to hearing the vice president’s side.
Duterte has previously denied Gracioso’s allegations.
