Former Philippine National Police (PNP) chief Rodolfo Azurin Jr. has officially taken his oath as the new special adviser of the Independent Commission for Infrastructure (ICI), succeeding Baguio City Mayor Benjamin Magalong.

According to RH Jecelle Ricafort, the oath-taking ceremony was administered by Court of Appeals Justice Pedro Corales, in the presence of ICI Chairman Andres Reyes Jr., members Rogelio Singson and Rossana Fajardo, and Executive Director Brian Hosaka.

In his speech, Azurin called on Filipinos to set aside divisions and work together for national progress, stressing that unity should not be achieved through protests or street demonstrations.

He acknowledged the “valid grievances” of various sectors but warned that lasting reform cannot be attained through disunity, unrest, or violence.

“Across the country, voices from all sectors are rising — citizens, workers, professionals, and the youth — urging our military and police to join this crusade against corruption,” Azurin said.

“Their call is valid and their cause is just, yet we must remember that real change cannot be achieved through division, chaos, or violence,” he added.

Azurin also reaffirmed the ICI’s mission to uphold integrity and accountability in public works, citing the need to address negligence and inefficiency in infrastructure projects affecting ordinary Filipinos.
