

A former councilor of Manila was arrested by the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) Terminal 1, Jecelle Ricafort reported on Thursday.
According to the NBI, the suspect was identified as Roderick Dayanan Valbuena, who has an outstanding warrant of arrest for kidnapping for ransom.
Valbuena is one of the five accused in a case filed before the Regional Trial Court (RTC) Branch 61 in Makati City. He arrived from Las Vegas on May 20 at NAIA Terminal 1 in Pasay City, prompting agents of the NBI-International Airport Investigation Division (IAID) to be immediately dispatched.
At around 10:37 a.m., he arrived and was escorted by IAID operatives.
"He was placed under arrest by virtue of the warrant issued by the above-named court, and was thereafter processed at the NBI-National Capital Region (NCR) in Manila," the NBI said in a press release.
"He was turned over to the NBI detention facility in Muntinlupa City for custody. Return of the warrant was made to the issuing Court the following day," it added.
