Former Philippine women’s national team goalkeeper Frances Santos Roces has died, the Philippine Women’s National Football Team said. She passed away on Sept. 22, 2026.

Roces represented the Philippines from 2003 to 2007 as a goalkeeper, according to the national team.

In a statement, the Filipinas expressed condolences to Roces’ family and friends and honored her contribution to Philippine football.

“Frances was a goalkeeper of the Philippine Women's National Football Team from 2003 to 2007,” the team said.

The national team said Roces and her teammates helped lay the groundwork for the Philippines’ subsequent achievements, including winning the ASEAN Football Federation championship, a Southeast Asian Games gold medal and qualifying for the FIFA Women’s World Cup twice.

“Thank you, Frances, for your service to the flag and country,” the team said.
