

At the age of 90, former Executive Secretary Eduardo Ermita, passed away on the morning of Saturday, October 18.
In a Facebook post of Balayan Mayor Elisa Ermita, daughter of Eduardo, the Ermita Family announced the passing of their father.
“Our father lived a full life in steadfast service to the Filipino people. As a soldier, he served with honor and dedication during some of the nation's most challenging times,” she posted, reflecting on his legacy of public service.
They described Eduardo as a true patriarch, not just of their family, but of the entire First District of Batangas. They emphasized that he remained deeply committed to the welfare of his constituents, dedicating himself to their well-being until his final days.
Moreover, the family announced that details regarding the interment and funeral arrangements will be released at a later time. They also expressed their heartfelt gratitude for the public’s prayers and the outpouring of love and support during this difficult period.
Eduardo served in the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) and held various posts in the Department of National Defense (DND), including Undersecretary.
After his military service, he entered politics and was elected Representative for the 1st District of Batangas. He later served as Executive Secretary of the Philippines and Presidential spokesman.
