

The Bureau of Customs (BOC) will pursue a forfeiture order on several luxury vehicles linked to resigned Ako Bicol Party-list Rep. Zaldy Co, now with the Independent Commission for Infrastructure (ICI), according to a report by RH Jecelle Ricafort.
BOC Deputy Chief of Staff Chris Bendijo told DZRH News that this would be the next step if Co’s camp fails to present documents proving that the vehicles had paid the proper duties and taxes.
Bendijo noted that at this point, the agency may issue a warrant of seizure and detention against the luxury vehicles of the former lawmaker.
He added that this represents the last opportunity for Co’s camp to prove that the vehicles underwent the proper legal process.
Bendijo explained if they fail, available remedies under Customs Administrative Order 3-2020 will be applied, including auction, condemnation, donation, and others.
The investigation stemmed from irregularities discovered in the vehicles’ documents, which served as the basis for a search warrant.
Currently, 12 luxury cars valued at approximately PHP 145 million are parked at the ICI lot in Taguig City.
