Authorities are investigating a large piece of metal debris with foreign markings that washed up along a shoreline in Lian, Batangas, prompting questions about its origin and purpose.
Personnel from the Philippine Coast Guard were dispatched to Sitio Talim in Barangay Luyahan after a resident reported an unusual metallic object near the coast. Responders later secured the site and conducted an initial inspection.
The debris, described as roughly the size of a small room at about 20 feet long and 10.5 feet wide, appears to be made of aluminum and bears markings in a foreign script.
Early attempts to interpret the text suggested a possible reference to “Antenna Transmission Window 5,” though officials stressed that this remains unverified.
Authorities have not yet determined whether the object is part of maritime equipment, aircraft components, or other industrial material that may have drifted ashore. Its condition and size indicate it may have been exposed to prolonged seawater travel.
The Coast Guard has taken custody of the debris for documentation and further technical assessment. It is also coordinating with other agencies to help identify its origin and assess whether it poses any safety or environmental risks.
Officials said the investigation is ongoing, with additional analysis expected once the material is examined more closely.
