Five tourists were rescued by the Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) after being caught in a rip current while swimming off Barangay Sabang in Baler, Aurora, on Sunday, November 1.
According to the Coast Guard District North Eastern Luzon (CGDNELZN), the incident occurred at around 4:20 p.m., approximately 20 to 30 meters from the shoreline.
Personnel from Coast Guard Station Aurora, together with the Baywatch team, immediately conducted rescue operations after spotting the tourists in distress amid strong waves.
All five were safely brought back to shore and were later assessed to be unharmed.
Moreover, no injuries were reported, and none of the rescued tourists required hospital admission or further medical attention.
The Coast Guard reminded the public to observe beach safety advisories and avoid swimming during hazardous sea conditions, as rip currents and strong waves may pose risks to swimmers.
