Asian Hospital and Medical Center has completed treatment for its first CyberKnife® patient.
The patient, an 8-year-old child diagnosed with meningioma — a tumor that develops in the protective membranes of the brain and spinal cord — successfully underwent the procedure.
To commemorate the occasion, the hospital held a simple laser display, symbolizing hope and courage for patients and their families.
To recall, the CyberKnife® system was first launched last July and introduced as a more advanced alternative to conventional radiotherapy.
Unlike traditional treatments that may require 25 to 30 sessions lasting nearly an hour each, CyberKnife can reduce treatment time to just one to five sessions, with each session lasting only 15 to 20 minutes. For cancer patients, this means faster recovery and an improved quality of life.
