Firework-related injuries have decreased this year, but children remain the most affected, the Department of Health (DOH) reported.

From December 21, 2025, to 4 a.m. on December 30, 2025, a total of 140 cases were recorded across 62 sentinel hospitals monitored by the DOH. This represents a 23 percent decrease from the 182 cases reported during the same period in 2024.

Of the 2025 cases, 95 victims (68%) were aged 19 and below, with 78 cases (58%) involving children aged 5 to 14. Adults aged 20 and above accounted for 32 percent of injuries.

The most injuries were caused by 5-Star, Boga, and other unidentified fireworks. Health officials urged the public to bring injured individuals to the hospital immediately and to call the National Emergency Hotline 911 for urgent medical assistance.

The DOH said it will continue to monitor firework-related injuries, impose preventive measures, and ensure public safety during the holiday season.
