

Firefighters successfully brought under control a residential fire that broke out along Pantabangan Street in Barangay Sauyo, Novaliches, Quezon City, on Monday, after several hours of firefighting operations.
The blaze, which initially affected homes in Area 5, later spread to nearby residences in Area 6, damaging numerous houses occupied by informal settler families. According to barangay officials, at least 30 homes were affected by the fire.
The Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) reported that the fire was declared under control at 12:38 p.m. following sustained efforts by firefighters and fire volunteer groups from different parts of the city who assisted in containing the flames.
Several individuals sustained minor injuries during the incident and are currently receiving treatment from personnel of the Philippine Red Cross. Authorities confirmed that, as of the latest report, no fatalities have been recorded.
To ensure public safety, authorities have temporarily restricted residents from re-entering the affected area due to ongoing hazards posed by the fire scene and damaged structures.
Fire investigators have yet to determine the cause of the blaze and the estimated cost of damage. Authorities continue to monitor the area while conducting assessments and clearing operations.
