A residential fire that broke out in Sampaloc, Manila, on February 6, was placed under first alarm before being brought under control by responding firefighters, authorities said.
According to the Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) Manila, the blaze prompted an immediate response from multiple fire units as it spread within a densely populated neighborhood. Firefighters worked to prevent the flames from reaching adjacent homes made of light materials.
As of 12:16 p.m., the fire was declared under control. BFP Manila Fire Senior Inspector Ronald Lim later confirmed that the fire was fully extinguished at exactly 12:26 p.m.
Residents in the area were temporarily evacuated as a precaution while fire personnel ensured that no hotspots remained. Initial reports indicated no immediate casualties, but assessment of possible property damage was still ongoing.
Authorities have yet to determine the cause of the fire, and an investigation is currently underway. The BFP reminded the public to remain vigilant and observe fire safety measures, especially in closely built residential communities.
