A fire broke out early Sunday morning at the Senate building in Pasay City, prompting a swift response from the Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP). The incident was first reported at 6:30 AM, specifically on the third floor of the Legislative Technical Affairs Bureau office.
Firefighters immediately responded, raising the alarm to the first level at 6:51 AM and escalating to the second alarm by 7:09 AM. The blaze was declared under control at 7:48 a.m. and fully extinguished by 8:24 AM.
Authorities are investigating the cause of the fire and evaluating the extent of the damage. Water used to suppress the flames caused minor leakage into the Senate Session Hall from the affected floor.
Senate President Vicente 'Tito' Sotto III confirmed that all critical documents, including records of the Blue Ribbon Committee, remain secure and unaffected by the fire.
Senate officials are coordinating closely with the BFP and internal security teams to maintain the safety of personnel and prevent future incidents.
Maintenance teams have begun round-the-clock efforts to dry and restore the Session Hall, ensuring the venue will be ready for the scheduled Monday session.
No injuries have been reported.
