A second-alarm fire damaged a private school, a chapel, a furniture shop and several vehicles along Kirishima Street, BF International, Las Piñas City on Thursday morning, the Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) said.
The fire broke out shortly after 7 a.m. and was raised to second alarm at 7:22 a.m. before being brought under control at 9:19 a.m., more than two hours after it started.
The blaze affected two cars and a motorcycle, along with the establishments, which authorities said were old structures that allowed the flames to spread quickly.
A 38-year-old teacher sustained a minor head injury and was taken to a hospital for treatment.
Only security guards and a few teachers were reportedly inside the school when the fire broke out, as classes and other school activities had yet to begin.
More than 30 fire trucks from the BFP and volunteer groups responded to the incident.
The BFP estimated that the fire affected an area of about 700 square meters, with property damage reaching ₱10.5 million.
Authorities are still investigating the origin and cause of the fire.
