

A fire broke out at the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) – Bureau of Research and Standards office along EDSA, Quezon City, on Wednesday afternoon, October 22.
The fire was reported at around 12:49 p.m. and was quickly raised to second alarm at 12:53 p.m.
It later reached third alarm before being declared fire out at 1:50 p.m.
In a report by Val Gonzales, firefighters broke the office windows to allow water to enter.
The report stated that the fire originated from the Materials Testing Division office located on the third floor.
Bureau of Research and Standards (BRS) Director Juliana D. Vergara announced that no important or essential documents were destroyed due to the fire.
In a separate statement, the DPWH said the fire originated from a computer unit that exploded inside the Materials Testing Division.
Despite the incident, no injuries were reported.
The DPWH also confirmed that no documents related to the ongoing investigation into the anomalous flood control projects were affected by the fire.
The department has also sent an investigation team to look into the cause of the incident.
