Several houses along NIA Road in Barangay Pinyahan were destroyed by fire early Thursday after a blaze reached third alarm before it was brought under control, fire authorities said.

The fire broke out at around 1:00 a.m. and quickly escalated to second alarm by 1:10 a.m. and third alarm by 1:25 a.m., according to TXTFire Philippines.

Firefighters placed the blaze under control at 1:49 a.m. and declared it out by 1:58 a.m.

According to a report by RH Val Gonzales, the Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) said responders were immediately deployed to the area but the fire spread rapidly due to the predominantly light-material construction of the affected houses.

No immediate report of casualties was released as of Thursday morning.

This marks the second fire incident in the area this year, following a major blaze on March 6 that also affected residential structures along the same vicinity.

Police Lt. Col. Zachary Capellan of the Quezon City Police District said personnel were deployed to maintain order in the area, noting the previous fire had already displaced residents and led to temporary roofing of structures with corrugated iron sheets as redevelopment work continued.

As of 6:56 a.m., BFP investigators were still conducting follow-up operations to determine the cause of the fire.

Some residents alleged the blaze may have been intentional, linking it to ongoing redevelopment and housing projects in the area. They claimed they had previously been informed of relocation plans tied to the construction of seven high-rise housing buildings for beneficiaries of government housing programs, in coordination with the local government and the National Housing Authority.

Authorities have not confirmed these claims, and investigations remain ongoing.
