A fire damaged three Grade 8 classrooms at the New Ormoc City National High School late Wednesday night, destroying students’ documents and advisers’ personal belongings.

The Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP)–Ormoc estimated the total damage at ₱2.25 million.

The blaze reportedly started at around 11:45 p.m., was brought under control by 12:11 a.m., and declared completely out at 12:20 a.m. Firefighters were able to prevent the fire from spreading to other parts of the school.

No injuries or casualties were reported. School officials said classes will be temporarily relocated while the damaged classrooms are assessed and repaired.

Authorities continue to investigate the cause of the fire. Local officials also reminded the public and schools to adhere strictly to fire safety protocols to prevent similar incidents.
