The National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) has verified that the fingerprints of the body found match those of former Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) Undersecretary Maria Catalina Cabral.
Acting NBI Director Lito Magno confirmed in his interview with DZRH News that the latent prints from the recovered body correspond with both the bureau’s and the Philippine National Police’s (PNP) forensic records.
Magno clarified that the investigation into Cabral’s death is still ongoing, and the case cannot yet be considered closed. The cooperation of Cabral’s family remains crucial to the progress of the probe.
The NBI has not commented on circulating reports suggesting the body may have been moved while on view, and officials are still awaiting the final report to determine the cause of death, including whether it was a suicide.
