The film “I’mPerfect” emerged as one of the night’s top winners at the Metro Manila Film Festival (MMFF) 2025 Gabi ng Parangal, held on December 27 at the Grand Ballroom of Dusit Thani in Makati City.

“I’mPerfect” took home the Best Picture and Jury Prize for Best Ensemble awards—marking a landmark achievement for representation and inclusivity in Philippine cinema. Meanwhile, Krystel Go was named Best Actress for her powerful and moving performance in the film.

Never before has Philippine cinema offered a film that authentically reflects real stories and lived experiences, giving mainstream audiences a clearer understanding of the abilities and potential of individuals with Down syndrome—until now.

In developing the project, Nathan Studios, producer Sylvia Sanchez, and director Sigrid Bernardo worked closely with Best Buddies Philippines in 2024, alongside various advocates, organizations, and parents, engaging in early discussions that helped shape the film from its earliest stages.

The film emphasizes the importance of mindful and respectful language, confronting outdated and harmful terms while shedding light on the discrimination both subtle and overt that continues to limit the full inclusion of individuals with Down syndrome.

Challenging long-standing stereotypes, I’mPerfect presents people with Down syndrome as capable, empowered individuals, portraying their humanity with dignity and authenticity—never infantilizing, always human.
