A Filipino national sustained a minor injury in a deadly train crash near Urda in Toledo, Spain, the Philippine Embassy in Madrid confirmed on Wednesday.

“The Embassy is closely coordinating with relevant Spanish authorities and the train operators on Filipino nationals involved in the incident. As of this time, we have verified information of one Filipino national who sustained minor injury,” the embassy said in a social media post.

The embassy also expressed its deepest condolences to the families of those who lost their lives in the train crash and wished a full recovery to those who were injured.

It also urged the families and friends of individuals who may have been aboard either train to contact its hotline for assistance and inquiries regarding their loved ones.

“We ask families and friends of those who may have been traveling on either of the trains involved in the collision, or the Madrid-Andalusia line, and cannot reach them at this time to please contact the Renfe family helpline at (+34) 900 10 10 20, and the Embassy 24/7 hotline at (+34) 616 491 861 so our assistance-to-nationals officer can provide assistance,“ it said.
