The Filipina5 came up just short against defending champion Vietnam, falling 0–2 in their second match of the 2026 ASEAN Women’s Futsal Championship at Terminal 21 Korat on Wednesday, February 25.

Despite the loss, the Philippine women’s futsal team remains in contention, tied with Vietnam at 3 points ahead of a crucial showdown against Australia tomorrow.

After a historic 1–0 opening win over world No. 38 Myanmar, the Filipina5 showed grit against Vietnam, pressing hard and creating several scoring opportunities.

However, Vietnam’s disciplined defense and sharp counterattacks proved decisive, netting two goals that left the Philippines unable to equalize.

The narrow defeat follows last December’s SEA Games semifinal, where the Filipina5 also fell 0–1 to the Vietnamese squad.

With the tournament still wide open, the Filipina5 will aim to secure a decisive victory to advance further, building on their historic triumph over Myanmar and lessons learned from today’s battle with Vietnam.
