The FEU-Diliman Tamaraws made an emphatic entrance in the NBA Rising Stars Invitational, overpowering host side Hwa Chong Institution, 89-24, in Group D action on Tuesday, June 23.

The Baby Tamaraws imposed their will from the opening tip, overwhelming the home team with relentless defense and efficient scoring to secure one of the most lopsided wins of the tournament’s opening slate.

Leading the charge were JB Cagurungan and Prince Cariño, both members of the Gilas Pilipinas Youth pool. Cagurungan finished with 22 points, while Cariño added 21, anchoring FEU-Diliman’s balanced attack.

FEU’s defensive pressure proved decisive, holding Hwa Chong to just 24 points while converting turnovers into easy baskets on the other end.

With the statement victory, the Tamaraws gained early momentum in Group D play and positioned themselves as a team to watch in the regional competition.

FEU returns to action on Thursday against Japan’s Tottori Johoku as they look to sustain their strong start and move closer to the knockout rounds.
