The Philippine National Police - Highway Patrol Group (PNP-HPG) discovered that the plate of one of resigned Ako Bicol Party-list Rep. Elizaldy Co’s luxury vehicles, a Ferrari confiscated by authorities, is fake.

According to HPG Director PBGen. Hansel Marantan, their macro-etching examination indicates that Co’s Ferrari is registered under the name of another driver who also owns a Ferrari, reported RH 52 Edniel Parrosa on Monday.

Authorities are still establishing Co’s connection to the said driver, who General Marantan has yet to name.

As of reporting, the HPG has begun coordinating with the Land Transportation Office (LTO) for the filing of additional charges against Co.

“I have talked with the LTo Chief just right now, sabi niya walang records, inosente ‘yun. Obviously, oo gawa lang plaka. In fact, nagalit na ‘yung may-ari nung plaka, bakit siya in-involve diyan,” Marantan said in a press conference.

Meanwhile, the Independent Commission for Infrastructure (ICI) is also determining how this discovery ties into Co’s complicity in allegedly diverting public funds.

Overall, the HPG and ICI have seized 12 vehicles—eight having been subject to a search warrant issued by the Bureau of Customs (BOC) due to a lack of documents and tax arrears, and four more having been flagged by the LTO.

The HPG is currently searching for 10 more luxury vehicles possibly linked to Co. They have received a lead as to the location of these vehicles from individuals willing to surrender them.
