A female motorcycle passenger died after a sport utility vehicle (SUV) allegedly hit the motorcycle and fled the scene along Ortigas Avenue in Mandaluyong City early Friday morning, July 10.
The incident occurred at around 4:00 a.m. in front of La Salle Green Hills, according to a report by Edniel Parrosa.
Based on the initial police investigation, officers from the San Juan City Police immediately arrested the male driver of the white SUV. Police said the suspect allegedly attempted to evade arrest by driving into the compound of a shopping center in Greenhills.
Authorities quickly responded to the incident as a police station is located near the shopping center.
The victim's body was removed from the scene at around 7:00 a.m. However, several pieces of evidence, including the motorcycle involved in the crash, remained at the site as investigators continued processing the scene.
Police temporarily closed portions of two westbound lanes of Ortigas Avenue from the Ortigas Flyover toward Quezon City Hall to allow authorities to conduct their investigation.
Authorities are set to turn over the suspect to the Mandaluyong City Police on Friday morning for the filing of appropriate charges.
