The Philippine Coast Guard (PCG), together with local responders and community members, recovered the remains of a father and his daughter who went missing after their carabao-drawn cart was swept away by a strong current in Botolan, Zambales.
According to the PCG, the father and daughter were traveling home aboard the cart on September 1, 2026, when a strong and fast-flowing current from an upland area caused the cart to overturn, sweeping them downstream.
The father was found along the shoreline of Botolan on September 2, while his daughter was recovered in the same area on September 3.
The PCG said both remains were positively identified by their family and subsequently turned over for appropriate arrangements.
The search and recovery operation involved the PCG, local responders, and members of the community, who worked together to locate the missing victims.
The PCG expressed its deepest condolences to the bereaved family and recognized the assistance of local responders and community members throughout the search and rescue efforts.
