The Office of the Presidential Communications (PCO) on Tuesday denied the authenticity of a circulating social media post attributed to First Lady Liza Araneta-Marcos, calling it “fake news.”

The post, which falsely claimed to be the First Lady’s response to Senator Imee Marcos, read:

“I won't argue with you anymore, because after all, you're my husband's sister and I respect mommy (Imelda). Pero yang mga statements mo fake, kasing fake ng mukha mong retokada.”

According to PCO Acting Secretary Dave Gomez, the quote is fake news and did not come from the First Lady.

The fake statement surfaced amid the ongoing rift within the Marcos family after Senator Imee Marcos alleged that her brother, President Ferdinand Marcos Jr., and First Lady Liza Araneta-Marcos were using illegal drugs.

House Majority Leader and Ilocos Norte 1st District Representative Sandro Marcos rejected his aunt’s claims, describing the allegations as false and “dangerously irresponsible.” He added that such remarks were not reflective of the conduct expected “from a true sibling.”

In response, Senator Marcos maintained her position and said she was willing to undergo a drug test, while challenging the President and the First Lady to take a follicle test.
