Former Taguig City Mayor Lino Cayetano has been appointed by President Ferdinand "Bongbong" Marcos Jr. as the new general manager of state-run broadcaster People's Television Network Channel 4 (PTV-4).
The appointment was announced by Presidential Communications Office (PCO) Acting Secretary Dave Gomez, who cited Cayetano's extensive background in media, business, and public service as key qualifications for the position.
Gomez said Cayetano brings a "rare wealth of experience from the media, the private, and the public sector," which is expected to help strengthen PTV-4's position in the multimedia landscape.
Cayetano is the owner of Rein Entertainment and has built a career in both media and government.
He served as mayor of Taguig City from 2019 to 2022 and represented the city's 2nd District in the House of Representatives from 2013 to 2016.
Cayetano is the younger brother of Senate President Alan Peter Cayetano and Senator Pia Cayetano.
Prior to entering politics, he was known for directing several television programs.
He also ran for congressman of the Taguig-Pateros 1st District in the 2025 elections.
Cayetano will replace Malou Choa-Fagar, who has served as acting general manager of PTV-4 since August 2025.
Gomez expressed his gratitude to Fagar for her leadership of the government television network.
"I would also like to extend my profound gratitude to GM Fagar for her service to the station and the nation," Gomez said.
Established in 1974, PTV-4 is a state-operated television network under the supervision of the Presidential Communications Office.
As he assumes leadership of the network, Cayetano is expected to draw on his experience in media and public administration to guide the state broadcaster in the coming years.
