Former House Senior Deputy Speaker Aurelio Gonzales Jr. said he was unaware that the Office of the Ombudsman has been conducting an investigation against him.

The former Pampanga representative’s statement comes after Ombudsman Jesus Crispin Remulla confirmed that he was among those being investigated by the anti-graft body.

According to Remulla, the inquiry involves government contracts worth billions of pesos that were awarded to companies linked to Gonzales and his family.

Gonzales, however, said the projects Remulla speaks of have already been investigated by the Ombudsman, but the case was dismissed in 2023 for lack of evidence.

The former congressman said that he is ready to face this new investigation.
