Former Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) Secretary Manuel “Manny” Bonoan has not yet returned to the Philippines, the Bureau of Immigration (BI) confirmed.
RH Boy Gonzales reports that in a text message to The Situation Report, BI spokesperson Dana Sandoval said that as of Thursday, December 18, Bonoan had not passed through any immigration counters at the country’s airports or seaports.
Bonoan had declared that he would return on Wednesday, December 17, after accompanying his wife for a medical procedure in the United States. However, it remains unclear whether he is currently en route back to the Philippines, as no return flight has been officially declared.
According to the BI, Bonoan flew to the United States via Taiwan on November 11. Although he is listed under an Immigration Lookout Bulletin Order, he was allowed to leave the country since there is no hold departure order or arrest warrant issued against him.
