Dismissed Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) engineers Brice Hernandez and Jaypee Mendoza have offered to return cash and several properties to the government as part of a proposed “restitution” deal, their legal counsel, Atty. Raymond Fortun said in DZRH News.

According to Fortun, the offer aims to return assets linked to alleged anomalies in flood control projects in Bulacan, where his clients have been implicated, RH Jecelle Ricafort reported on dzRH's Damdaming Bayan.

He declined to disclose the value or specific details of the restitution package, noting that Hernandez and Mendoza prefer to wait until the Department of Justice (DOJ) reviews and approves their proposal.

Regarding their application for placement under the Witness Protection Program (WPP), Fortun confirmed that there has been no change in its status.

The legal counsel clarified that while his clients are not insisting on becoming state witnesses, their application remains pending.

Hernandez has acknowledged his involvement in the flood control anomaly and accepts the consequences of his actions, the lawyer added.

Both Hernandez and Mendoza remain under Senate custody as they face multiple charges filed by the Independent Commission on Infrastructure (ICI) and the DPWH, alongside other individuals accused in the flood control corruption case.
