Former Commission on Elections (Comelec) official, ex-commissioner Guanzon, has filed a complaint against a man following an incident at a Makati City mall, which drew widespread attention online.

A viral video circulating on social media shows Guanzon visibly angry at the man and his spouse during the confrontation.

In a Facebook post, Guanzon explained that the incident began when the man allegedly criticized her for coughing and told her to leave the mall. She claimed she was further humiliated when the man asked if she could not afford a face mask.

In an interview on dzRH's Damdaming Bayan, Guanzon defended herself, stating that she never coughed directly on the couple and had only coughed once while maintaining a safe distance.

I’m asthmatic, I never go out when I have a cough, it’s dangerous, I’m 68,” Guanzon said.

“Noong alam kong uubo na ako, I move my face away from them, hindi ako umubo sa harap nila. Maawa naman kayo sa akin,” she added.

Guanzon said that the man and his spouse were brought to the police station, and she filed charges of unjust vexation and grave oral defamation. She submitted a warrant of arrest to the police.

According to Guanzon, the man sought to settle the matter in writing, but she insisted on recording it on video because the viral footage already painted her as the aggressor.

“Sabi nila sa lawyer ko hingi raw sila ng areglo, sabi ko pwede na yun pero i-video ngayon nagkakalat na yung video na parang ako ‘yung masama,” she said.

She claimed that as the couple’s lawyer tried to have them read their Miranda rights, they allegedly fled.

Guanzon vs. Llamas

Meanwhile, Guanzon also responded to political analyst Ronald Llamas, who posted his on Facebook that his self-esteem dropped because he was not wearing luxury brands like Rolex or Gucci—items Guanzon mentioned in a previous viral incident.

In a sharp rebuttal, Guanzon mocked Llamas’ appearance and criticized him for his past legal troubles, adding that she is friendly but has no tolerance for those who try to take advantage of her.

Risa Hontiveros lagi. Tinanong pa nga si Risa Hontiveros ni Winnie [Monsod] kung kabit mo siya," she said.

She further stated that she believes she is more suitable to be a senator than Llamas, criticizing him and others for labeling her a supporter of the previous administration.

"Ang ayoko dito, they are taking advantage kasi nile-label nila akong DDS kaya binabanatan nila ako kasi takot sila na mag-senador ako. Hindi ako bagay diyan—sosyalista ako," she added.

As of now, the Makati City Police have yet to release an official statement regarding the incident.
