Former Commission on Audit (COA) State Auditor Roderick Wamil took the witness stand as the prosecution’s first witness on the 11th day of the impeachment trial of Vice President Sara Duterte, as proceedings focused on allegations of misuse of confidential funds.

Wamil, who previously served under the COA–Intelligence and Confidential Funds Audit Office (COA-ICFAO), was presented by the prosecution to support Article I of the Articles of Impeachment, which centers on the alleged improper use of confidential funds by the Office of the Vice President.

House private prosecutor Atty. Lorna Kapunan began the direct examination of Wamil, laying the groundwork for the prosecution’s case tied to the audit of the vice president’s liquidation of confidential expenditures.

Before formal questioning, Kapunan asked Wamil about his condition on the stand. The former auditor admitted feeling uneasy.

“I’m feeling a bit anxious lang po as of this moment,” Wamil said.

Kapunan reassured the witness before proceeding. “Nerbyos? Anxious. Huwag kang mag-anxious,” she said.

Wamil’s testimony is expected to detail findings from his audit of confidential fund disbursements, a key component of the prosecution’s effort to establish alleged irregularities under Article I.
