Former Calinog, Iloilo Mayor Salvador Divinagracia Jr. was arrested following a fatal hit-and-run incident that led to a young motorcyclist’s death in New Lucena.

New Lucena Police Station Chief of Police PLt. Jhonrey Laru-an said the former mayor was driving his pickup truck along a highway in Barangay Pasil when he rammed into the victim, 20, on his motorcycle, reported Jocelyn Maque of Aksyon Radyo Iloilo on Tuesday.

The victim died on the spot after the pickup truck dragged his motorcycle along the road.

Divinagracia explained that he was frightened and, panicking, took off from the scene. However, he was intercepted by law enforcement at the Ungka Flyover, Pavia, and promptly apprehended.

The former mayor was charged with Reckless Imprudence Resulting in Homicide, according to police.
