A former LandBank of the Philippines branch manager testified that the Department of Education (DepEd) encashed checks totaling ₱112.5 million, describing the transactions as “unusual,” as the impeachment trial of Vice President Sara Duterte entered its 10th day.

The proceedings tackled Article I of the Articles of Impeachment, which alleges the misuse of confidential funds.

Nenita Camposano, who previously headed the LandBank DepEd branch, told the impeachment court that three checks worth ₱37.5 million each were encashed.

During questioning by prosecutor Rep. Joel Chua, Camposano said she first saw former DepEd Disbursing Officer Edward Fajarda during the encashment of the first check in February.

Asked when she first met or saw Fajarda, Camposano replied: “Noong encashment ng first check ng February.”

Camposano added that Fajardo was accompanied by another individual at the time, but she could no longer recall who it was.

She also testified that Fajarda carried two bags during the said encashment.

When asked by Chua about the total amount of the three checks, Camposano confirmed it to be around ₱112.5 million.

Camposano reiterated that the size and nature of the transactions were “unusual,” based on her experience as branch manager.
