Former Ateneo de Manila University basketball coach Tab Baldwin admitted that he did not have an Alien Employment Permit (AEP) during a clarificatory hearing conducted by the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) on Monday.

According RH Tina Nolasco's report, Baldwin told labor officials that he had received an email in 2015 regarding his AEP but failed to respond to it.

The admission came as Baldwin appeared before DOLE to address questions surrounding his employment status during his tenure with the Ateneo men’s basketball program.

During the hearing, DOLE Secretary Francis Tolentino said records from the Bureau of Local Employment also showed no AEP registered under Baldwin’s name.

The clarificatory hearing is part of the department’s review of compliance with labor and employment regulations concerning foreign nationals working in the country.

Baldwin, who recently resigned from his post, was accompanied by his legal counsel during the proceedings.

As of writing, the session remains ongoing with further updates expected to follow on Baldwin’s case.
