Speaking in behalf of the Senate, Senate President Francis “Chiz” Escudero gave Vince Dizon his regards in taking on his “formidable” new designation as Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) secretary, following Manuel Bonoan’s resignation.
Escudero said that although the task of establishing much-needed reforms within the agency poses “immense” challenges, Dizon is well-equipped for it.
“The hands-on approach and fresh perspective he brings will serve him well in confronting the deeply entrenched problems that have long plagued the DPWH,” Escudero said, adding that eradicating corruption is only part of the job; he must also ensure the DPWH delivers functional projects.
“The Senate stands ready to support the reforms Sec. Dizon will pursue to ensure that public works are delivered efficiently, transparently, with full accountability and in the service of the Filipino people,” the Senate President declared.
President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. has accepted Manuel Bonoan’s resignation, which will take effect tomorrow, September 1.
