Presiding Officer Francis “Chiz” Escudero on Monday reminded lawyers and non-lawyers involved in Vice President Sara Duterte’s impeachment trial to respect one another and keep their arguments focused on the pursuit of truth and justice.

“Our duty is not to conquer one another in this proceedings but to eliminate the truth and serve the cause of justice. Let the arguments be forceful but never personal,” Escudero said.

Escudero acknowledged the anger and frustration surrounding the proceedings, but urged everyone to remain composed and focused on their responsibilities.

“Medyo maikli na ang pasensya ng karamihan; naguumapaw ang galit, poot, at inis. Subalit, hindi tayo puwedeng mawalan ng loob sa ating ginagampanang tungkulin. Hindi tayo puwedeng pumatol,” he added.
